Natural gas as a transition technology

A viable alternative for conventional diesel vehicles are trucks with LNG/CNG drives. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) are considered alternative fuels, but they are of fossil origin, and therefore not sustainable. They represent a rather short bridge technology that can help reduce environmental impact until Bio LNG is successfully established as a low-emission and climate-friendly fuel.

The LNG tank infrastructure is growing rapidly

The LNG refueling infrastructure is being built up rapidly in Germany. This includes service stations offering Bio LNG, the number of which will increase significantly in 2021 and 2022. Due to the long range of LNG trucks, only a few LNG refueling stations are needed in the initial phase to supply the trucks on the long haul.
